Fallow deer

 

 

Description:

 

A medium-sized deer, with forelegs slightly shorter than his back legs.
The male has antlers flattened paddle-shaped and has many points (ramifications). The coat color is brown, dark gray or white, darker dorsally and lighter on the belly, chest, and at the bottom of the legs.

Size: Height between 60 cm and 100 cm, length from 100 cm to 150 cm, weight of the female between 25 kg and 45 kg, male weight between 30 kg and 75 kg.

Life span: is around 12 years. Their preferred habitat is mixed woodland and open grassland. During rut bucks will spread out and females move between them, at this time of year fallow deer are relatively ungrouped compared to the rest of the year when they try to stay together in groups.

Food: basically grass and leaves and fruit.

Habitat: The Fallow deer is native to India, Sri Lanka and Nepal. It is now in all european countries, Australia, USA, Argentina and Uruguay.
